[PyPI] Routine Maintenance
Scheduled Maintenance Report for Python Infrastructure
Completed
Scheduled maintenance is complete, 45 minutes ahead of schedule.

Ultimately all impacts were within the foreseen constraints of our current codebase and infrastructure.

We are working hard to make maintenance like this less impactful in the future, but have elevated speed of maintenance, consistency of data, and "keep pip working" in priority over individual page loads, UI actions, searches, and uploads.

Scheduled
We will be performing routine updates and patches which will require reboots to the infrastructure running PyPI beginning at 2016-07-14 at 0200 UTC. Expected time to complete is less than one hour.

During the maintenance, some functionality may be impaired as systems failover to backups or are offline for reboot.

There will be no impact on the availability of the `/simple` index or package data hosted by PyPI, thus tools like `pip` will not be impacted.

Expected Impact:
- search functionality may error for 5-10 minutes
- browse functionality may error for 5-10 minutes
- some requests to the PyPI Web UI may fail while our CDN "discovers" that nodes are rebooting
- some requests to upload/update/delete packages and releases may fail for the same reason
